Blackpool Winter Gardens opened on July 11th 1878 was intended to provide indoor entertainment facilities for holiday visitors. It consists of a complex of venues including Blackpool Opera House and the Empress Ballroom. The winter gardens is noted for hosting political conferences.

Blackpool Grand Theatre Built in 1894 to the designs of Frank Matcham, this has eleven hundred seats. In 2007 the Grand presented such performances as The Rocky Horror Show and South Pacific.
